It started in a workshop

For over twenty years, our family has run a furniture factory in China — sanding, joining, and finishing pieces by hand alongside the craftspeople who taught us the trade. Furniture was never just a business to us. It was the smell of fresh-cut wood in the morning, the hum of the machines, and the quiet pride of seeing a raw plank become something a family would live around for years.

Then one of us moved to America

Arriving as an international student, the first apartment was empty, the budget was thin, and the choices were grim: flimsy furniture that wobbled loose within a semester, or "nice" pieces that cost a month's rent and showed up in a crate too big for the stairwell. Building a single desk meant an afternoon of confusing instructions and a missing screw.

And the whole time, one thought kept circling: our family literally makes this for a living — why is it this hard, and this expensive, for the people who need it most?

That's how Aokani Home began

We started Aokani Home to bring our family's furniture straight to the students and young renters who move the most and have the least time to deal with it. Because we work directly with our own factory, there are no middlemen marking things up and no mystery about who made your furniture — it's us.

Every piece is chosen and designed around one real-life test: can it ship to a fourth-floor walk-up, fit through a normal doorway, go together in minutes, and come apart just as easily when you move again next year? If it can't, it doesn't earn a place in our store. We call this our "精选严选" promise — carefully selected, strictly checked.
